I watched a film this evening called The Fall. Unfortunately it’s long and I fell asleep a few times so I’ll have to watch it again but the parts I’ve seen are pretty amazing. Why, you ask? Because it was shot entirely on location in some of the most beautiful places in the world. It took the filmmaker over seventeen years to scout the locations. Talk about dedication!
Anyway, there is one place featured in the film called Jodhpur. It’s known as The Blue City of India. Here’s why:
Pretty cool, ay? Legend has it that the priestly class started to paint their houses indigo to set themselves apart from other classes but it became a trend instead. Oopsy! Other explanations include symbolism (looks like water in the stark desert) and practicality (fends off mosquitos and keeps the city cool). Not terribly sure I buy those.
Either way, it’s cool. Let’s go there.
